RACINE, Wis. – Maintaining its support for young producers who show leadership in the agriculture industry, Case IH awarded nine new Farmall® tractors to the runners-up of the 2014 American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) Young Farmers & Ranchers awards. One of those tractors, a Farmall 55A, will go to Caleb May of Pawnee, Ill., for being a finalist for the Discussion Meet event.

The winners, announced at the AFBF 95th Annual Meeting Jan. 12-15 in San Antonio, Texas, were selected based on their knowledge of agricultural topics, ability to discuss these topics with others and public speaking skills.

“Case IH is proud to support these outstanding individuals as they continue to pursue a future in the agriculture industry,” says Zach Hetterick, Case IH Livestock Marketing Manager. “At Case IH we strive to provide the tools and resources to help young producers develop a strong foundation for their future.”

May grew up on a grain and livestock farm and currently lives on a small acreage. He was very involved with 4-H and FFA growing up and currently works in the agribusiness industry.

“Farm Bureau is one of the few organizations that supports all types of agriculture and farmers,” says May. “I have gained a lot of friends through networking at the state and national levels of Farm Bureau.”

May ordered his Case IH Farmall 55A from Case IH dealer Tri-County Equipment, Inc. and says he can’t wait to get the tractor. He plans to use it for mowing and raking hay.

“It is a pretty cool deal that Case IH sponsors this award,” says May. “It is a great incentive to participate in the Discussion Meet event.”

May first got involved with Farm Bureau in 2006 when the county manager asked if he wanted to attend a meeting. May and his wife, Kimberly, are involved in Farm Bureau in the county where they both grew up. They serve as the representatives for the Young Farmers & Ranchers program in their county.

Work and Farm Bureau activities keep May very busy. He says that as soon as his kids are old enough, he plans to get them involved with 4-H.
