Transmission Choices
Intuitive CVX Drive
Steiger tractors with CVXDrive take the guesswork out of scraper work. The CVXDrive automatically selects the most efficient transmission range once the operator sets the desired speed in tractors up to the 540 model. This eliminates the need for shifting and clutching, so you can load the pan more evenly and efficiently. If your operators can drive the support vehicle, they can drive a Steiger CVXDrive tractor.
The CVXDrive also gives you:
- Exclusive split-throttle design
- Precise speed changes
- Seamless acceleration to reach cruising speed at the lowest possible engine speed
- Continuous hydraulic flow to ensure all power is transferred and not dispersed
- Consistent, if not better, cycle times
Rugged PowerDrive Transmission
The PowerDrive powershift transmission generates the highest drawbar horsepower, maximum pull and most fluid-efficient power in the world.1,2,3 Plus, it provides reliably smooth and quick shifting – 20% faster than other powershift transmissions – to reduce operator fatigue. That’s why it comes standard on every Steiger tractor.1
The PowerDrive transmission also gives you:
Skip Shift™ function: Shifting two gears at a time allows the operator to reach desired ground speed as fast as possible.
Diesel Saver Automatic Productivity Management (APM): More driving comfort and maximum fuel economy allow the PowerDrive to operate like an automatic transmission.
Power shuttle: Right-hand power shuttle in parallel with the left-hand selector is standard, allowing direction changes without releasing the steering wheel.
Smooth power: Allows shifting through all 16 gears without any torque interruption, providing more efficient power to the drawbar.
More Uptime, Unmatched Efficiency
World-record-setting Power
Drawbar horsepower: It’s one thing to generate a lot of horsepower. It’s another to effectively transfer that power to the scraper you are pulling. Steiger tractors deliver 37 more usable horsepower than comparable models.1
Maximum pull: The Steiger 620 tractor handles more weight than any tractor ever tested by the Nebraska Test Laboratory. Plus, separately activated front and rear automatic differential locks help you maintain the pull through the toughest conditions.2
Fluid-efficient power: Patented Case IH SCR technology is simply the most efficient and powerful diesel emissions-control technology there is. You’ll be moving dirt while competitive tractors are busy going through a regeneration cycle. This translates into powerful fluid savings for your business.3
An Efficient Power Package
When you purchase a Steiger scraper tractor, you get one powerful transmission. Case IH packs a 620 HP transmission in most scraper tractor configurations,* giving you the satisfaction of knowing you have a scraper tractor that gives you years of service and providers a lower cost of ownership.
Plus, the Diesel Saver Automatic Productivity Management (APM) system helps maintain speed through the cut by automatically upshifting and downshifting as the load, soil or grade changes.
Power Through Every Pull and Turn
Wheels
- Dual wheels are the best choice for maximum scraper pulling power. Up to 5.5-in. heavy-bar axles carry up to 66,000 LB of weight.
- Independent auto differential locks provide maximum traction at all times, reducing slippage in tough terrain.
- Available in Michelin®, Goodyear®, Titan®, Mitas® and Firestone® dual tire option.
- Single Low Sidewall Technology™ (LSW®) tires now available for narrower transport.
Quadtrac®
- Quadtrac tractors are the right choice for fleets that need to power through mud and difficult terrain.
- Four individual drive tracks, each with five axles, precisely follow the ground contour and create more ground contact for better flotation, traction and easier transport.
- A standard advanced steering system — a hybrid of electric and hydraulic — provides outstanding maneuverability and control.
- Standard self-tensioning track system maintains belt tension for longer life.
- Standard bolt-on roller wheels and cast undercarriage add extra strength and durability.
